SupaScoot's Rumor Report!!!

Welcome to yet another new feature here on Action News, where I'm gonna field all the crazy rumors we hear in the entertainment world. Rarely do these pan out, but sometimes, just sometimes, we learn a nugget of truth. So let's get started.

This is apparently the all Avengers Edition as we get hit from casting rumors to plot rumors to cameo rumors. That's a lot of rumors.

This one comes from the Albuquerque Journal, and it was a doozy. SuperHeroHype reports:

Ain't It Cool News points out that the print version of this article from the Albuquerque Journal includes a possible hint at the storyline for The Avengers. The article says:

"The Avengers" script will blend "Iron Man," "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger" story lines as the Avengers battle with two alien races, the Skrulls and the Kree.

While the article features quotes from people involved with bringing the production to New Mexico, there is no confirmation that the Albuquerque Journal got this story information from Marvel Studios or Disney.

So while that seems like it would be awesome, it's a little bit too big for the first flick. however this rumor was already disproved:

SuperHeroHype has confirmed that the information published in the Albuquerque Journal was not officially released through Marvel Studios and can instead be attributed to a research error on the part of the newspaper.

While this does not preclude the film from featuring the Kree or the Skrull, there is no hard evidence to date to suggest their inclusion.

Next up is a possible new addition to the cast of The Avengers over at Splashpage:

The rumor comes from a Radar Online report centering on Lovato's recent holiday break from rehab. The report concludes with a matter of fact declaration: "RadarOnline.com has learned Demi is up for a role in the new 'Avengers' movie that will start shooting April 1."
Of course, without confirmation from Marvel Studios officials or someone from Lovato's corner, it's best to break out the salt shaker when approaching this latest rumor. That said, Radar Online reports the rumor with such conviction that it's worth wondering whether or not there's some truth to Lovato's involvement.

But even in our attempts to look at Lovato's casting as a legitimate possibility, we're still scratching our heads wondering who she might play. Easy money says Wasp — after all, who hasn't been rumored for Janet Van Dyne at this point? — but perhaps she'd have a role as Stature, Kate Bishop or one of the other Young Avengers.
Another possibility — and again, we're in pure speculation mode — is that Lovato may have snagged a role in "Runaways," delivering a cameo turn before going on to star in the teen superhero flick. We could see her playing Karolina Dean, even if she isn't our first pick for the part. But really, at this point, it's anybody's guess as to who Lovato would be starring as, if she's starring as anybody at all.
This was however, disproved as well:
Now, sources close to Lovato and Marvel are both completely denying the actress' involvement. The Hollywood Reporter reports that "part of the problem in hiring the actress is that she's currently in rehab 'for emotional and physical issues.'"
And now a rumored cameo coming to us from SuperHeroHype:

Despite Jeremy Renner denying rumors that he would make a cameo appearance in Thor as as Hawkeye, The Wrap is now reporting that the character does indeed have a scene in the film.

Renner has long since been confirmed to be playing the character in The Avengers, but, if the rumor plans out, aThor cameo would mean that fans would get to see Clint Barton on the big screen a year in advance of that film's May 4, 2012 release.
More Jeremy Renner is good news as far as I'm concerned. Perfect choice for Hawkeye, no question.
Finally moving over the pond to a DC rumor about a possible casting choice for Wonder Woman in Mad Men's Christina Hendricks:
Spinoff Online reports that during an appearance on the Rachael Ray Show last week, Hendricks was asked about rumors that she's a possible contender to play Wonder Woman — and while it's only a rumor for now, it's a rumor that the redhead likes very much.
"I just heard that rumor, too," she said. "I don't know where it got started, but I love it."
"I've been wanting to wear that outfit my whole life," she added. "I had Underoos — I had Wonder Woman Underoos."
"Oh, I'd love to," she said when asked about her interest in playing Wonder Woman. "That would be so much fun."
There's bound to be some debate over whether or not Hendricks has what it takes to play the character — her signature red locks and her mid-30s age range might take her off the playing field for some fans — but anyone who knows her work as Joan Holloway on "Mad Men" can attest to her sheer ferocity and her ability to cripple a man with the simplest of looks.
She's got my vote...
Well, a hearty batch of interesting rumors, and that's just the beginning! This stuff happens everyday, sometimes ridiculous, sometimes foreshadowing? Wait until April Fool's if you want to see some crazy rumor action. But until then, we'll keep bringing it to you here at Action News!!!

'AKA Jessica Jones' Coming To TV

So I apologize for the lack of posts, but holidays are over and it's time to get back to work. So I'll start with some old news, but good news.

Not too long ago we told you about Marvel's plan to bring three properties to the small screen, with two of them being rumored to be Cloak & Dagger, and The Incredible Hulk. The third series remained a mystery...until now.

Dramatic.

Anyways, Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg is writing and producing the series AKA Jessica Jones, which is obviously based on Marvel's Jessica Jones. Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, it was an awesome series titles Alias which featured JJ, a retired/failed superhero running a private investigation firm. Now it can't be called Alias for obvious reasons, so AKA Jessica Jones works for me.

This was a great series hitting hard with both story telling and art. It propelled JJ into the forefront of the Marvel world, and I think it will make a kick ass TV show. I only wish we could get some of Jessica's foul mouth because that was at times some of the best parts of the book.

AKA Jessica Jones is planned to premiere in the fall of 2011 on ABC.

Who do you think should play Jessica Jones?

The Urban 30 Weekly Update!!! Season 4 - Week 13

I'm doing this quickly today because it's Christmas, but I figured what better present on X-Mas than your favorite weekly wrap-up! I'll keep the summaries short, because you really need to read the posts to get the big picture!

And what a week it was! With all the talk of a carnival I was hoping for a nice peaceful cotton candy filled fun time, but where the Urban 30 is involved you know that just won't be the case. In their first mission back as a team after the mind wipe, The U30 discovers that things are not as easy as they remembered, and meanwhile, Drifter learns a thing or two about himself from an unlikely source.

Here's the weekly rundown:

Hitman and the U30 head to the Celebration of Peace Carnival, where he encounters an old enemy, as well as more mind wiped members of the team. Their first mission back might be more trouble than they expected...

After Engel's unlock of Sonus, he heads to the Carnival with the rest of the team hoping to unlock Elemental. Once he arrives, he finds himself under mental attack from some unknown force, and it might be more than he can handle...

Gehenna is happy to find another mind wiped acquaintance of hers at the Carnival, even if she is disguise during the meeting. Then the shooting begins. Seeing where the shots may have come from, she runs off in pursuit...

After the long preparation for her husband's Carnival, Terra is excited to see it finally come to pass. But when she sees the face of the man haunting her visions, things go from bad to worse, and only one person can save her now...

Sonus makes his way through the Carnival, and when the shooting starts he is surprised to find the bullets hitting him. When he realizes their true target, he jumps to the rescue... of the Mayor?!?

Drifter wakes up as a captive, only to be kidnapped again by some kind of monster. Waking up in a lab, he meets the mad geneticist, Dr. Grimm, and witnesses a broadcast of the Carnival, showing him his first glance at the Urban 30...

There it is, what an action packed week! And next week is even crazier!!! Be sure to check it out daily at urban3zero.com!

On a personal note, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and send you a heartfelt thank you for reading both Action News and The Urban 30, it means a lot that I can have such devoted followers, because why else would I do this?

Happy Holidays!!!

What Are Friends For? Brand New Segment!!!

Welcome to a brand new feature here at Action News, and it's all about a simple question really.

What Are Friends For?

Not those 'Friends'...

Well, most of the time what a lot of my friends are good for are sending me funny stuff from the web. Yea sure, they are there when you need something and to always give support, get drunk with, blah blah blah. BORING. So instead of having all this internet gold wasted on me, I figured it was only fair to share it with the rest of you. So weekly (maybe) I'll bring you new editions of WAFF? to entertain you for a good 2-7 minutes. Sound good? Let's get started.

First of all my friend Berv, (she hates it when I call her that) Fashion Designer Extradoinaire, shared this with me, and words do not describe how awesome it is:

Wow, awesome. I'll wait, if you want to watch it again.

Next up is my buddy Doc Kronner, who was the driving force behind Bam!Kapow! for a while, and to see his his new site just click on his name. Anyways, he sent this to me and he said he couldn't stop laughing, which pretty much means it's ridiculously hilarious. It helps that it's Conan, too.

Okay, now I apologize, I don't know if it's my computer or the fact that I'm in Canada, but I can't get the video to work for me, so I am sharing it to you purely on Doc's recommendation. You can check it out here.

This is short but sweet, and it's from my buddy and old band mate (yea I was in a band, whats up?) Shane. It's a scene from Silent Night, Deadly Night 2, which kind of speaks for itself.

Garbage Day!!!!

Beautiful...

And finally, from my fellow collaborator at both Bam!Kapow! and The Urban 30, Christopher A. Brown. This is... just... epic. This guy is my hero, check it out:

And he ends it with a killer line, great delivery. Wow...

Well, there it is! What do ya think? Better yet, do you have any funny videos or bits from the web that are sure to entertain? Drop me a line! Check my Contact or Links pages for the best ways to share with Action News!!!

Jon Favreau Not Directing 'Iron Man 3'

By now I'm sure you've all heard the news that Jon Favreau will NOT be directing Iron Man 3, which surprised most of is in the comic world. After setting up the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) with both of his IM films, most of us expected him to continue with his franchise, but instead he will be directing Disney's Magic Kingdom

Splashpage.mtv has the story:

"It's true," he told fans on Twitter. "I'm directing Magic Kingdom, not Iron Man 3. I've had a great run with Marvel and wish them the best."

Marvel and I both came of age together,” he said. “The years that we shared were a pivotal experience. [Marvel chief Kevin Feige] has a firm grasp on the many franchises and how they all interweave and I am happy that I had the opportunity to establish the world that these characters can now play in."
"Iron Man has given me tremendous opportunities and Kevin and I are enjoying a lot of momentum in our careers thanks to the Iron Man films," he added. "I look forward to seeing what others can do playing in the same world.
Although Favreau won't be directing "Iron Man 3," his days with Marvel aren't over. The director confirmed that he's still a producer on The Avengers, and it remains unknown — and therefore still possible — whether or not he'll reprise his role as Happy Hogan for the next Iron Man outing.

This isn't necessarily bad news, and I don't think it hurts to bring new blood to the IM franchise. Favreau did his part in bringing us, well, one really great movie and a decent sequel, and with the quantity of Marvel films hitting in the near future, it's not like we won't have other news to keep us occupied.

'X-Men: First Class' Set Pics and Synopsis

After the whirlwind of casting news we saw a few months ago, there's been a lot of questions about the Matthew Vaughn helmed X-Men: First Class. Well, recently some set photos came out revealing some possible info about the upcoming prequel(?), I suppose we could call it.

The set photo shows what looks to be a crashed Sr-71 Blackbird, which is the X-Men's jet, natch:

Some of the possible locations suggested were that this might take place on Muir Isle in Scotland, which is a well known place in the X-universe. I like to think of it as the living island Krakoa, one of the first "villains" encountered by the All-New, All-Different X-Men, but since we don't have any clear idea of a story or plot it's all conjecture at this point.

What's that? Oh, well, this just in, they also released the first synopsis of the upcoming film, so maybe we do have an idea of what this film will be about:

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

Nope, still kind of don't know much. The term Armageddon could mean either a world ending catastrophe, or a character in the X-Universe, but I kind of doubt he would be featured in a movie like this.

I'm still on the fence with this one, since I just can't really buy a 'First Class' without Cyclops or Jean Grey, but we'll see how it shapes up. James Macavoy as Xavier and Michael Fassbender as Magneto may just make up for the lack of a true First Class.

Action News Team, are you excited for this flick or still hurt from X-Men: The Last Stand? It's okay to be hurt, just let it out, "Strong men, also cry..."

The Urban 30 Weekly Update!!! Season 4 - Week 12

Weekly Update time!!! Now I know you've all been following daily on urban3zero.com and sitting on the edge of your seats, so let's wrap up this week so we can make room in the brain for the epicness that will be next week. Don't believe me? Check it daily to find out!

This week the team ties up some loose ends, and with the Return of Sonus, as well as the re-appearance of Tony Gamble/ Dispatch, a plan to take down Winters begins to form.

Here's the weekly rundown:

Engel's and Gehenna continue to get heated over his drinking, and he continues on alone to investigate one of the bank robberies. When he learns of the upcoming 'Celebration of Peace' carnival held by Mayor Winters, a plan starts to form.

Gehenna heads back to her home, finding it ransacked. While looking through her apartment, she finds what could be a clue to her missing friends. Determined to find some of her people lost to her by the events of the mind wipe, she takes a chance and heads toward finding her past.

Terra's life with the Mayor remains busy, especially with the upcoming 'Celebration of Peace' carnival, but there always seems to be time for shopping. Accompanied by the Mayor for some fittings for the carnival, Terra sees a dark and frightening side to her husband.

Weakened by his recent battle with the alien Ruver, Drifter encounters it's 'back-up', the Chief of Police and his lethal Lieutenant. Drifter is forced into a confrontation with the Lt. that tests his powers and his endurance, not to mention his patience. Drifter's bad day just keeps getting worse.

Sonus questions his decision to go public in his attempt to draw out other heroes, particularly Hitman. Heading home, he takes care of business at his apartment building getting rid of some unwanted guests. Settling back to enjoy his usual snack, he discovers he's not alone in his home.

Hitman finally confronts his old friend and teammate, Sonus. He learns even more than he expected when another old teammate appears in Sonus's apartment, and Hitman investigates a scene of battle in a nearby alley, leading to more questions. With the help of Engels, Sonus is unlocked, and the plan to take down Winters begins.

Like I said, pretty intense week. And big thanks to Renzo for the new Drifter image, I was going to wait for Drifter's next post to unveil it but I just couldn't! What do you think?

Stay tuned next week to see the Urban 30 back in action, as well as see what's next for Drifter and Terra, you won't be disappointed.

VGA Game Trailers!!!

So this weekend the Spike TV Video Game Awards aired, and they were pretty effin awesome. Neil Patrick Harris hosted, and despite all the boring awards part of the evening we got to see some pretty cool trailer reveals. I'll try and make the epicness quick:

Thor: God of Thunder

Mass Effect 3

Prototype 2

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

There were a lot more trailers but these were the ones that really got me interested. Well this and the Batman: Arkham City trailer from yesterday. What game are you most looking forward to in the next few years?

Every Zombie Kill From 'The Walking Dead'

Now this is cool, and I actually have Twitter to thank for this little gem of zombie gore. Well, Robert Kirkman's Twitter, that is.

Anyways, over at BuzzFeed they have this montage of head shots and mayhem made by Eric Linn, showcasing "every" zombie kill from AMC's The Walking Dead, and while there may be a couple missing, I don't know, I'm not a doctor, it's still a good watch.

Nothing better than Zombie head shots to pass the day away.

Full 'Batman: Arkham City' Trailer Debuts At The VGA's!

We saw the Batman: Arkham City teaser a couple days ago that featured Batman being a bad ass, and I would say that this trailer really reveals the bad assery of Professor Hugo Strange. And the VGA's had a great set that really added to the effect of the debut. Here's the long awaited trailer:

Boom! And that's not even showing most of the game or some of the characters involved. Filmonic has a little more:

Taking place a year after the events of Arkham AsylumArkham City sees a huge section of Gotham City itself turned into a city for prisoners of the asylum, who have been given free reign (provided they don’t try to escape). Obviously, a huge number of new gameplay features will be added, in addition to new multiplayer stuff (it seems like there might be some sort of co-op element involving Catwoman).

What with Catwoman, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, and the returns of The Joker, Harley Quinn, and the Riddler, Arkham City is shaping up to have quite a roster of villains. It’s due out some time in the third quarter of next year.
I can't even describe how excited I am for this game. The first one was hands down fun, and I look forward to the new characters and good ole Bats. More importantly, I look forward to the fight sequences. The combat stages in the first game were the most exhilarating and most aggravating parts of the game, so I definitely expect to enjoy more of that.
What do you think, News Team? Are you as excited for this game as I am?
How 'bout now?

The Urban 30 Weekly Update!!! Season 4 - Week 11

Welcome back to the Urban 30 Weekly Update! This week the reunited members of the U30 deal with some team problems while trying to determine the next step, when the next step is made for them.

Here's the weekly rundown:

Terra reflects on her recent work with the homeless shelters to help her 'husband', the Mayor, and the media coverage that came with it. She makes an important decision that will affect her future, as she continues to be plagued by strange occurrences.

Drifter encounters his first alien threat, and it does not come in peace. Drifter has to learn how to use his powers against a powerful foe, but this battle might just be the beginning of Drifter's problems.

Sonus has re-discovered the fact that he's a superhero, and with the financial help of the mysterious Luther he starts to live up to his new life. He gets set on the path to find 'the Hitman' and decides to show the world the superhero amongst them.

Gehenna's confrontation with Engel's didn't go exactly as planned, so she tries to enlist the aid of Hitman while trying to figure out what the U30's next step is as well as locate some of her missing people. When the news reports a string of bank robberies as well as the appearance of Sonus, the team heads into action.

Hitman tries to help Gehenna with the Engel's situation, but with so much to do he may not be able to give her the help she needs. When he sees the news report of the appearance of Sonus, he heads out to find his old friend, and properly re-introduce himself.

Phew! The Return of Sonus is just around the corner, but what awaits the U30 and their various mind wiped members in DC? And how does Drifter fit into all of it? You'll have to keep reading daily at urban3zero.com or every Saturday here on SupaScoot's Action News!!!

The 'Thor' Trailer Is Here!!!

Wow. I'll just say that first.

A lot of people have been worried about the Kenneth Branagh helmed Thor for a lot of reasons. The difficulty in bringing the character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a big part of this. Since Iron Man was released, it focused on a Marvel world that was tech and science based, and Thor should be anything but, so everyone is wondering how they will be able to properly combine these two worlds in a believable way. We had a brief look at the trailer at Comic-Con, but this official trailer that was released last night opens it up so much more, and... well... just watch it:

That was awesome. I really think that Hemsworth can pull this off, and they have a great supporting cast to help him. Not to mention Natalie Portman, who is better and better in every movie I see her in. And I could keep going on and on, but I'll just point you over to Splashpage.mtv where they highlight their five favorite moments from the trailer.

Thor hammers down on May 6, 2011.
(Was the 'hammers down' a bit lame? might have been a bit lame, yea)
