'Thor' Update 04.07.11

New posters, pics, billboards, TV spots, word on an Avenger cameo... UPDATED: New film clip with a first look at Hawkeye...

The release of Marvel Studio's Thor is only a short month away, and I am getting pretty excited. I can't help it. And clearly, neither can the studio, because they are not holding back on promoting the film.

This update is jampacked with all kinds of promo, which I think is what really helped sell Iron Man. So standing true to "if it ain't broke don't fix it", Marvel is hitting it home this time. So let's get to it.

I'll start off with a couple of posters, because there are a lot so I'll try to spread it out. SuperHeroHype has two international posters:

Next we'll talk about the confirmed cameo of a fellow Avenger. Jeremy Renner will make an appearance as Hawkeye, pretty much rounding out the Avengers different appearances in each of the movies. /Film has the cameo details:

Part of the footage shown at the con included Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, who will have a much bigger role in The Avengers. CinemaBlend covered the appearance, which sounds like it is more than a blip in the film:

The scene we saw featured Renner as Hawkeye, working with the infamous Agent Coulson, played as he was in the Iron Man movies, by Clark Gregg. The scene features Hawkeye using his famous bow and arrow and he has multiple lines, so while we’re talking about something a little more than a momentary cameo, there’s no way to know if his involvement will go any further than that one scene.

SuperHeroHype has a little more on the look of Hawkeye:

About halfway through the presentation, they surprised us by showing a sizzle reel assembled from footage from previous Marvel movies along with EPK-style interviews with various members of the cast for the ensemble action film. The reel included some new footage we haven't seen from Thor where he's smashing his hammer down and causing waves of destruction, what looked like some pre-vis for The Avengers, as well as our first look at what Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye costume is going to look like.

Basically, Hawkeye's costume is going to be very similar to the Ultimates version of the character and what he looks like on the cover to the left. In the concept art, we see Renner wearing similar dark glasses and a leather outfit with a matching over-the-shoulder leather quill for his arrows, only the movie version of Hawkeye has the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo emblazoned on it to show his government allegiances. His precision bow is much like the one used by archers who do it for sports and hunting, which again, is also much like the Ultimates Hawkeye.

Awesome. Who's my favorite Avenger? Oh that's right, it's Hawkeye. And I can't wait to see Jeremy Renner in the role, that's like pure casting gold.

Now a TV spots from Mania:

Very cool. Lot's of Destroyer action, plus a look at some of Thor's weather control, which also looks pretty cool. Splashpage has some great shots of the rest of the cast:

Here are Jaime Alexander as Sif, Rene Russo as Frigga and a cool shot of Colm Feore as the king of the Frost Giants, with more shots at the link:

And a new photo of Hemsworth as the Mighty Avenger from SuperHeroHype:

And now some more posters from SuperHeroHype, just click the pics for the Hi-Res versions:

How about more TV spots? Here's two from Mania:

And the final one from /Film:

Next, one of the coolest billboard advertisements I've ever seen, from SuperHeroHype:

That's a pretty wicked billboard. And to finish the update, a new film clip from Latino Review, with a quick look at Hawkeye. Seriously, just watch closely:

We've got one more month people. I can barely wait. How 'bout you, News Team? Excited? Don't care?
