Conan's The Flaming C on 'Young Justice'!!!

Okay, so not too long ago we featured the first look at the Conan/Bruce Timm created superhero The Flaming C, and hilarity ensued. Well, things just got a whole lot better. WB Animation sent something over to Conan, and like he says, it pretty much speaks for itself:

Wow, so can I just say how much more amazing Young Justice would be if The Flaming C permanently replaced Superman? With Conan voicing of course. Not that YJ isn't already amazing, cuz it is. And you should watch it.


Now if you are wondering this footage wasn't aired in the actual episode or anything, merely spliced in for Conan's benefit, but hot damn that would be great. The steaming oven mitt cracks me up.

'AKA Jessica Jones' Coming To TV

So I apologize for the lack of posts, but holidays are over and it's time to get back to work. So I'll start with some old news, but good news.


Not too long ago we told you about Marvel's plan to bring three properties to the small screen, with two of them being rumored to be Cloak & Dagger, and The Incredible Hulk. The third series remained a mystery...until now.

Dramatic.


Anyways, Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg is writing and producing the series AKA Jessica Jones, which is obviously based on Marvel's Jessica Jones. Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, it was an awesome series titles Alias which featured JJ, a retired/failed superhero running a private investigation firm. Now it can't be called Alias for obvious reasons, so AKA Jessica Jones works for me.


This was a great series hitting hard with both story telling and art. It propelled JJ into the forefront of the Marvel world, and I think it will make a kick ass TV show. I only wish we could get some of Jessica's foul mouth because that was at times some of the best parts of the book.


AKA Jessica Jones is planned to premiere in the fall of 2011 on ABC.

Every Zombie Kill From 'The Walking Dead'

Now this is cool, and I actually have Twitter to thank for this little gem of zombie gore. Well, Robert Kirkman's Twitter, that is.


Anyways, over at BuzzFeed they have this montage of head shots and mayhem made by Eric Linn, showcasing "every" zombie kill from AMC's The Walking Dead, and while there may be a couple missing, I don't know, I'm not a doctor, it's still a good watch.



Nothing better than Zombie head shots to pass the day away.

The Flaming C... AKA Conan O' Brien?

That's right, if you've ever wondered what Conan O'Brien would look like as a superhero, wait no longer. Comics Alliance has the story:

After realizing that his new talk show is produced not just fifty feet away from the legendary Warner Bros. Animation building at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California, comedian Conan O'Brien rushed over to discuss comics and animation with Chief Creative Officer Peter Girardi and DC Universe animator/producer/mastermind Bruce Timm. O'Brien offered Girardi some humorously unhelpful criticisms of some characters from the DC Comics Encyclopedia, and rather unfairly forces Bruce Timm to design The Flaming C, a superhero based on and created by Conan O'Brien that once seen can never, ever be unseen.

"Whoever invented this one, he was trying to get out early for the weekend," O'Brien told Girardi in reference to Green Lantern, whose power is to create anything he can imagine - as long as it's green. O'Brien was also dismayed by the "dandy cowboy" Bat Lash, Ultra the Multi-Alien ("this is a f*cking mess") and, most especially, Captain Boomerang, whose weakness O'Brien identified as "pretty much any enclosed space where there's no room to throw a boomerang."

Later, O'Brien sat down with Bruce Timm, arguably the most successful television animator of his generation and responsible for the best superhero cartoons ever produced, and asked him to design a Conan-based superhero with "more of an ass" as well as loafers, stockings and garters, oven mits and a jai alai glove.

'The Walking Dead' Writing Staff Fired

News broke a bit ago that Frank Darabont, the developer behind AMC's hit The Walking Dead had fired off the entire writing staff, it left a lot of us internet media types puzzled. I mean, the show is a success, breaking ratings records, and was picked up for a second season after the first episode, so why fix what ain't broke? 


Now obviously one would think that now Darabont himself would be writing the series second season, which may be the case for a lot of episodes. But the plan is to follow the route that has served Doctor Who well and freelance the episodes out to writers, as opposed to the writing room collaborations. 


Splashpage.mtv talked to Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead, and he says it's not as big of a deal as people are making it out to be, and that the announcement was "unfortunate" and "premature":

"It's kind of unfortunate that it's being reported that our writing staff has been fired because that's not the case," he said. "It makes Frank look bad. I don't think Frank wants it out there that he's just firing people off of a successful show seemingly for no reason."

Kirkman added that executive producer Charles "Chic" Eglee, one of the many writers reportedly ousted from "The Walking Dead," actually chose to leave on his own accord.

"Chic Eglee is a high-level television writer," said Kirkman. "He was brought onto 'The Walking Dead' with the idea that Frank was going to work on the first season and then go off and do movies. Chic didn't want to be second-in-command on a show when he's used to being a top dog, and so he decided to go off and do something else, which is something that happens and is not a big deal."

As for how Darabont and Kirkman plan on tackling the writers situation going into season two of "The Walking Dead," Kirkman said: "It's a little premature to be nailing down. I don't know if it's going to be a freelance situation or if we're going to have writers in a writers' room."

"Everybody knows what they're doing," he added. "AMC has done a few television shows before, and Frank Darabont is a professional. Whatever is decided, I don't think it will affect the show one way or another."

Robert Kirkman also said that he would be writing an episode in the second season, so while I think they would only benefit from a group of writers, after the awesome first season I trust them to right by the series and keep a good show good.

'Family Guy: It's A Trap!' Trailer!

Well, you had to know that it was coming. After the success of Blue Harvest and Something, Something, Something Dark Side, it was no surprise that the third installment would hit us, at X-Mas no less. The trailer for Family Guy: It's A Trap! is a fanboy's dream, and like they point out at the link, it's almost an exact homage to the original trailer for Star Wars Return of the Jedi. Here's the trailer:





Hilarious. You can check out the Return Of The Jedi trailer at the link above, it's pretty much a shot-for-shot recreation. I'm stoked. 


This comes out along with a trilogy pack of all 3 movies on Dec 21st, just in time for last minute shopping. Take notes family, a BluRay Family Guy Trilogy pack just might be the perfect gift.

'Young Justice' Premieres Tonight!

... If you get Cartoon Network that is. Or live in Canada so can't stream it from the states... no biggie... I'm not bitter or anything.

And too make it worse they released this 6 minute trailer a couple days ago to rub it in a little more. For those of you who don't know what Young Justice is, it's the story of the sidekicks of the DC universe on their own team. More of a Teen Titans kind of thing usually, but this version features Robin, Superboy, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Miss Martian and Artemis. Not the most conventional squad, but it looks pretty sweet. Check it out for yourself:




Looks pretty dope, right? I like how they form the team by discovering Superboy, that's a relatively new idea with these characters.  Here is an interview with Jesse McCartney (anyone remember him? LOLZ) who voices Robin, and tells a little bit of the show's perspective with these characters. Here's a little more, with Speedy being a dick, as usual.



Well it airs tonight on Cartoon Network for those of you that get it. I'll find a way to watch it, well, because that's what I do.
