'X-Men: First Class' News, Spoilers, and Rumors?

Oh My...

Okay, lot's of X-Men: First Class news to cover, so let's get started. Back before the holidays a report came out full of spoilers from a "crew member" who claimed to work on set. Now some of his "spoilers" were interesting because we had seen pics that kind of backed them up. So we are going to go over this report of possible spoilers, and if you haven't realized it yet:

!!!SPOILER WARNING!!!

So here's the list that was put on the SHH forum by the "crew member" as reported by /Film:

  • The suits in the first class are a very vibrant blue and yellow. like new. [Beast's] fur is also a very light blue with dark accents. and his face looks nothing like grammer’s beast. all the costumes look the same, with little accents that make them personal to the character, which is kind of cool. mystique looks really good in hers.

  • There is a mutant dressed in a purple suit. [Is this Riptide?]

  • Azazel wants mystique to have his baby. he shouts it out during a fight. ‘you will have my baby!’ [The baby likely being Nightcrawler.]

  • mystique has an xmen costume, so i’m assuming she’s apart of the xmen team at some point. she’s also not going to be blue for the entire movie.

  • angel has tattoos all over her body and her costume is black, very short and revealing.

  • beast, mystique and *the villain*have a fight.

  • the hellfire club is either a strip club or a casino. and it might be on a boat.

  • a scene takes place outside a submarine. only a small part of the sub is real. most of it is green screen.

  • “I can say something major happens on a beach with the x-jet and a submarine. I was also told the beach scene takes place in (Cuban Missile Crisis).

  • Now, also released were another picture of the crashed Blackbird, as well as a storyboard that may or may not feature the mutant responsible:

Now all of this is a lot of rumor's and maybe's with no confirmation from Marvel or Fox, so let's move on to something...well...real. Over at SuperHeroHype they have an interview with January Jones about her portrayal of Emma Frost/ White Queen:
"When I heard that this installment of ‘X-Men' was gonna take place in the '60s I was like, ‘Oh my God, you must be kidding me!'" Jones said. "But I read the script and familiarized myself with the character of Emma Frost. She's so, so far from Betty and from ‘Mad Men,' and it takes place in that time but it doesn't feel like a period movie."

"The costumes are insane," Jones added. "It's a lot of very body-conscious stuff. If you look at the comic book, she's barely dressed. She's got quite the bod, which is very intimidating."

Jones headed for the "First Class" set the day after "Mad Men" wrapped. "I'm thinking, ‘I'm supposed to be doing crunches on the plane," she said. "How am I gonna get buff in one day? I'm a petite person, so I didn't want to go into a strict workout and eating regime. I would have disappeared entirely, and she's very busty, very voluptuous, so I didn't want to get rid of any of my curves."

She did have some advantages over the other actors when it came to costumes. "I don't have to do all the crazy prosthetics... When I morph into my diamond form, it's all done on computer."

Jones said that one of the first things she wanted to understand was the source of Emma's anger.  "Emma was a bespectacled, mousy child who had this power when she was young that she couldn't quite harness, the telepathy, the mind-twisting stuff," Jones said. "She had a falling out with her father and went her own direction."

It's all interesting news, but I'm waiting for something really big to show us this movie isn't just another excuse to throw a bunch of mutants on screen, much like X-Men: The Last Stand... bleh.
